About the Role
AllRock Consulting is a fast growing Geotechnical/Materials Engineering firm that is looking for a talented Asphalt Technician. This is a unique opportunity to deliver engineering services on a wide variety of exciting projects across Newfoundland.
Requirements
Role and Responsibilities
The successful candidates will demonstrate initiative and will excel under minimal supervision. You will be comfortable in a fast-paced environment and skilled in delivering on your commitments. You will work with a team of engineers and other technologists/technicians performing general, materials and asphalt testing and inspection responsibilities. In brief, duties include but are not limited to:
Travel to many various sites throughout Newfoundland
Collection of samples, obtain field data.
Conduct a full range of field material testing.
On-site material inspection
Construction Quality control/Quality assurance
Observe contractor activity.
Other general field related duties
Reporting: You will be required to regularly complete detailed field reports and submit them to the laboratory supervisor.
Operations: You will be expected to support team operations and play an integral part in the promotion of our health and safety culture, client relations, training and mentoring of more junior staff, equipment and resources maintenance and management, and other related duties will be expected.
Capabilities and Credentials
We are looking for an energetic team player who enjoy working with a team of engineering staff in providing superior service to our valued clients across Newfoundland. The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Effective communications skills (computer, written, oral)
Consulting or related experience
Direct experience in a similar role would be considered an asset.
Ability to work with minimum supervision.
Demonstrate initiative and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Work on construction sites
Valid Driver’s License (Class 5) and access to their own personal vehicle
Valid insurance policy to transport nuclear compaction testing equipment.
The ability to carry out moderate lifting and to traverse uneven ground will be required.
Willing to work overtime in the evenings and weekends.
Willing to work 10-12 hour days
Education and Experience
Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 3+ years in Laboratory and field testing.
